Charles Owen
City Arborist and Horticulturist
Charles Owen grew up in Georgia and earned his bachelors degree in horticulture from the University of Georgia, Athens Georgia, in 1985. He worked at the Holden Arboretum and the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo before coming to Brecksville in 2000. Hobbies include most non-firearm related outdoor activities, but, especially bicycling.
He lives and gardens in Parma Heights.
Don Maund
Horticultural Assistant
Don was hired by the city in 2005 and began in our recycling center. In the spring of 2009, he was placed in the horticulture department. Don had worked for Monteleone’s Landscaping for 14 years as a landscaping foreman before coming to Brecksville. He is also a Kent State University alumnus.
Jim Kasmarcak
Horticultural Assistant
Jim has been in the horticulture and landscape industry since 1980. He ran his own landscaping business for 15 years, before moving on to work for Monteleone’s Landscaping for 9 years. When he got married and started a family, he decided to work for the City of Brecksville, so that he could spend more time with his family. In 2007, Jim acquired his pesticide applicator’s license.
