The City of Brecksville has recently had a rash of car break-ins and vehicle thefts.

Thieves are using the cover of darkness to roam neighborhoods looking for unlocked vehicles.  If a vehicle is found unlocked, they rummage through it for any type of valuable.  In a couple instances where keys were left inside the vehicle, they stole the vehicle as well.  The Brecksville Police Department has recovered some of the stolen property, have identified possible suspects and is working with other agencies to apprehend those responsible and bring them to justice.
The Department would like to remind everyone of some important security measures that can be taken to help thwart these criminals.
Keep your vehicle locked at all times and do not keep your keys in the car.
Do not keep any valuables such as wallets, phones, tablets or laptops in your vehicle.
Keep the outside man door to your garage locked.
Please report any suspicious people or activity in your neighborhood to the police immediately.
Thank you for your help and assistance.
