The City regulation that signs are not permitted within the right-of-way is not a new law, but rather has been in effect for decades. Our Sign Ordinance is posted on the City webpage – Section 1187.08. Those posting signs should refer to these Regulations prior to posting their signs. Political campaign after political campaign, signs have been removed from the right-of-way. The City removes signs in violation, takes an image of the sign in place and places the address of the location from which it was removed. These are stored at the Service Department and you may pick them up there from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. In the past few days, window cleaning signs, tree service signs, real estate signs, political signs – in the right-of-way – have been removed per Code. Although we continue to receive complaints, we will extend the courtesy by not removing signs within the right-of-way until Monday, October 18, 2021. If you are a candidate, we ask that you please advise your supporters who will be posting your signs that they must be 10 feet from the right-of-way and 15 feet from the side yard lot line. Of course, as stated, this applies to all temporary signs, not just political signs.
